One of the most common questions I get from students is: “Which Spanish should I learn?” They worry that if they learn the “wrong” version, they won’t be understood when they travel.
My answer is always the same: Learn proper grammar. Think of grammar as the “Passport” of the language. Slang and local lingo change at every border, but the DNA of the language—the way we use Gender and Pronouns—stays the same. If you master the foundations, you can speak in any country with confidence. You won’t just be “getting by”; you’ll be speaking correctly.
Mastering the “Building Blocks”
Spanish is built on two things: Gender and Personal Pronouns.
- Is the word masculine or feminine?
- Are you speaking to someone or about someone?
Once you stop guessing if it’s el problema or la problema, the rest of the language starts to make sense. You aren’t just memorizing phrases; you’re learning how the language actually works.
